BECAUSE Raises $21,000 for Nurses for Newborns

Brinkmann Constructors is proud to announce that their annual charity initiative, BECAUSE (Brinkmann Employees Care About United Service Efforts), has raised $21,000 for Nurses for Newborns, a foundation that provides a safety net for families most at-risk in order to prevent infant mortality, child abuse and neglect by providing in-home nursing visits which promote healthcare, education, and positive parenting skills. Members of the BECAUSE committee presented a check to Melinda Ohlemiller, CEO and Rich Gallaher, Board President at the Nurses for Newborns office in St. Louis on Friday, November 18, 2016.

Founded in 2014 by Brinkmann employees, the BECAUSE initiative is a way to give back to the community where they live, work and play. Each year, Brinkmann employees nominate and vote on a charity. The BECAUSE volunteer committee then organizes special events and recruits coworkers, clients, friends and family to volunteer time, talents and money to benefit the charity they chose.  “Many of us at Brinkmann are parents and we feel Nurses for Newborns makes such an important difference in the lives of children and families,” says Matt Funk, BECAUSE team member and Director of Preconstruction at Brinkmann Constructors, “We are proud of what our employees have done to benefit Nurses for Newborns and the community.” The BECAUSE committee includes Matt Funk, Jennifer Funk, Christine Scheer, Brook Foederer, Emily Scheller, Jacob Colter, Jeremiah King, Lori Prater, Matt Brinker, Nate Wirth, Nicole MacDonald, Valerie Strickland, Sandy Kaiser, and Kyle Livengood.
